Hummus with Bread and Tahini Sauce
There are many variations for this Fatteh recipe. During the month of Ramadan, many types of Fatteh are prepared such as Chicken Fatteh, Makdoos Fatteh, Eggplant Fatteh to name few that are made in the Arabic and Middle Eastern Kitchen . I like this variation, it tastes smooth and full of flavor also it is so easy to prepare.
*2 cups of already soaked and boiled chickpeas, until tender. You may use two cans of chickpeas, boil the water in the cans and add two more cups water when boiling them
*3 or 4 loaves of pita bread, white or wheat flour
*2 cups chickpeas boiled water
*1 cup yogurt
*3 tablespoon lemon juice
*½ cup Tehini
* One clove of crushed garlic- you may use more according to your taste. You may used hot chill pepper if you like, it is optional
*Fried Pine nuts or Almonds for garnish. You may use finely cut parsley to garnish with
Directions:
-Bake the pita bread chips until golden in color. Place in a deep dish You can still fry the bread in oil until golden brown but this will make your recipe higher in calories and fat.
-To make the sauce, add yogurt, Tahini, Lemon juice, Salt, Garlic and the Hot chili peppers if you are using them. Mix to a smooth finish. You do not need an electric mixer for this step, a whisk or a fork would do
-Heat up the chickpeas with the water until boiling
To assemble:
- Put the bread chips in a deep dish
- Pour half of the amount of the Tahini and yogurt sauce , mix well
- Add two cups of chickpeas with some of the water, add the rest of the Tahini sauce and mix well
-Smooth up the top. Garnish with chopped parsley and / or fried pine nuts or fried almonds with the oil that was used for frying

Hey Summer. Thanks for posting the Fattet Hummus recipe. I love Fattet Hummus, but am kind of intimidated to try it.
You should write a recipe book. It's really hard to find a good English recipe book for authentic, home-style Arabic recipes. If you do ever write your cookbook, I'd be glad to be your editor/ recipe tester. (And I think my husband would be glad for me to test your recipes too!)
Rebecca, thanks for coming by. i hope you get to make this dish, it is so easy, especially if you used canned chickpeas...it does not take much time to prepare such a tastey treat.
thanks for the book idea! If you are serious about it, email me, for sure i would love to talk together...as for the testing and tasting, this will be no problem at all..we can do it!

Hi Summer,
It's so great to see this video! My brother has been trying to describe this dish to me, but I couldn't understand what it was like--solid, soupy, like a casserole, like a side dish? Now I understand and it looks delicious! PS I will also help test recipes for a cookbook if you like! Also, any chance you could translate the makdous version?
Lillan, thanks for your nice comment. i am glad i posted this recipe with the video too! although i just noticed that i have posted the video twice on the post, i should edit that!!
glad you got to know how it looks like, it is so easy to prepare and so delcious...! i hope it works out for you when you make it...let me know! :)
Lillian, i will translate the makdoos recipe too and send it to you :)
