Apricot Drink ( Amar al Deen) is a considered a traditional drink during the month of Ramadan in the Middle East and Arab countries. This drink is easy to prepare and delicious.
The best Amar Al Deen, or the dry apricot sheets come from Syria, which is a major producer for this type of product.
Recipe
Half a kilogram of Apricot Fruit Rollup/sheets
Enough water to submerge the cut off sheets in
Direction
Cut the Apricot sheet into medium size pieces and soak in hot water for at least 10-12 hours in the fridge. The next day mix in the mixer on high speed until the drink becomes smooth. If the drink is too thick for your taste you may add more water to it.
Serve cold
You may add few drops of Orange blossom water to the drink, depends on your own taste. You may also add pine nuts to your cup if you desire, but I like my Apricot drink without any further additions.

The sheets look so pretty! I never thought of making those fruit leather sheets into a drink.

foodycat, thanks for coming by!
i like your description of "leather sheets"...come to think of it, they do look and feel like sticky leather! once you make them into a drink, they are very refreshing especially if you add ice and soda or 7up.

Hi, Summer. I have some pureed apricot in my freezer. Do you think I could combine it with orange water to make this drink (without first turning it into a roll-up), or is the roll-up part important?

Beatrice, sure thing, you can use your frozen apricots mixed with orange juice to make this drink, the roll up apricots is not important at all..i included this recipe because apricot roll ups are widely available during Ramadan season in the middle east and there are many ways to use it. the roll ups are very high in sugar that is why i think you may need to add some sort of sweetener to your drink if you like, or you can add some 7up or sprite to it, it should add fizz and sweet taste to it, if you like!
thanks for coming by.
